Kristian Olofsson is the mastermind behind Miazma, in my personal experience this is one of the bands which kick started my enthusiasm towards the Gothic Rock of The Third Wave; along with Angels Of Liberty, Dreamtime, Merciful Nuns, Soror Dolorosa, and other great releases of 2011.

The legacy of The Sisters is undeniable here, this is traditional guitar -oriented Gothic Rock sound; but in order to have the complete picture of the style of Miazma, you have to add to this mix some Shynt Pop chords, hard-sounded and electrifying guitars, fine 90’s Dark Wave passages, shynts & keyboards, catchy melodies, and powerful rhythms. Miazma has taken some of the most classic influences in Gothic Rock, and he is doing this kind of music with sobriety, aplomb, and class. You know how this sounds, and this is amazingly well done; top quality stuff.

I like Miazma a lot, this one-man project come without pretentious pose, Miazma has no other intention than be straight to the point; by bringing this exciting Gothic Rock which actually is pretty rich in textures, and is loyal to the tradition with excellence in the execution. This is the key for the effectiveness in the music of Miazma, and this guy is pretty good at it. Have to say that the production in his releases is flawless. He has released two full length albums: “Dressed In Black”, “Dollar Rush” (both of them available only as digital downloads), and here is this self-titled compilation with Gothic Music Records. The music of Miazma is finally on CD format!

This is tasteful traditional Gothic Rock with capital “R”: If someone asks you: “How does Gothic Rock sound alike?” Well, this record by Miazma exemplifies to the point how does Real Gothic Rock sound… The Gothic Rock in The New Millenium , executed with a stunning combination of elegance and strength.
