Orplid is a German music group from Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Created in 1996, they primarily make neofolk and neoclassical music, and have more poetic lyrics instead of typical verses or choruses.
The name Orplid itself refers to a poem by Eduard Mörike called Singing Weylas that describes a paradise island beyond the sea.
Their founding members are Frank Machau and Uwe Nolte. Frank is primarily the composer for the band and Uwe is the producer and songwriter.
Many of their song lyrics reference German paganism, Greek mythology, Christian symbolism of the early Middle Ages, and natural romanticism.
